Established in 1985, Shanghai Cao Yang Vocational School is a China ’s key vocational senior high school at the national level approved by the Ministry of Education, while once gaining the achievement of Shanghai Advanced Vocational Education Unit, Shanghai Municipal Safe and Civilized Campus, Model Unit of Pu Tuo District.

With investment of RMB 230 million yuan on the infrastructure, the school has a construction space of 68200 square meters while with occupancy of 65 acre. Boasting the four well- equipped teaching buildings for different specialities, 12-floor dormitory building, standardized sports ground, 2-floor gymnasium of 290 square meters, nearly 40% of campus covered with greens, Shanghai Cao Yang Vocational School has wire communication and fibre network throughout the whole campus.

The school has 58 classes including about 2500 students at present. There are 9 main majors in the school: Chinese cooking, western cooking, exhibition service and management, hotel service and management, motor maintenance, motor decoration，automobile sales and spareparts，modern logistics, and accounting. In the November of 2009, with the effort of Skills Training Center , the school was approved to become the National Vocational Skills Appraisal Site. The school has 2 opening practice and training center ---- Cooking Training Center and Convention &Exhibition Training Center , both of which are open to the society, greatly improving the quality of education and service of the school.

In the third year of the study in the school, 100% students are arranged to do internship in fine enterprises. After graduation from the school, three way-outs are available to the students: employment, going abroad or going further study in college. For years, more than one thousand students had been enrolled by colleges. The employment rate of school graduates was 98.2% in 2008, 98.7% in 2009, and 98.9% in 2010. with good accomplishment and a perfect mastery of skills, the students are widely approved and praised by the enterprises in the society.

Meanwhile, Shanghai Cao Yang Vocational School takes an active exploration on the pattern of running school “cooperation between school and enterprise, combination of work and study”. In recent years, the school has tied friendly cooperation relationship with more than 100 enterprises, among which Xi Jiao Hotel, Hong Qiao Guest Hotel, International Convention Center, Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai General Motors, Lexus 4S shop, Shanghai Xin Hua Media Limited Company, Shanghai Li Zhan Exhibition Design Company, and the Government of Pu Tuo District have linked a long term and stable cooperation with the school.

In the process of running school, Shanghai Cao Yang Vocational School insists on the concept of multi-cooperation in terms of domestic teaching communication and international culture exchange. The school has maintained a catering culture exchange program with Lycee Hotelier & CFA de Marseille France for 20 years, which enables the students of both schools to have a short term study for exchange in the other school. Besides, Shanghai Cao Yang Vocational School is the only training base authorized by Association of Bartenders Singapore(ABS). The school also maintains an international link with USA, UK, Sweden and so on, providing more paths for students to learn their specialities.
